What is Thomas Cook’s involvement with the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games?

Thomas Cook are the Official Provider of short breaks to the London 2012 Games. Our London 2012 short breaks will be split into Games Breaks and Games Breaks Plus

What is the difference between a Games Break and a Games Break Plus?

A Games Break includes Olympic event tickets and accommodation only. Games Break Plus includes Olympic event tickets, accommodation, a Thomas Cook games host, accredited transportation to and from Olympic venues and some meals

How do I buy a Games Break or a Games Break Plus?

You can purchase a Games Break and Games Break Plus from any Thomas Cook or Going Places store, online at www.thomascooklondon2012.com or by calling 0844 800 2012.

How will I get to my Games Break (Plus) events?

Games Break tickets come with a (transport for London) travel card that will be valid for the day of the event ticket. Visit the London 2012 website for details about public transport to and from the London 2012 Games Venues. Games Break Plus customers are allocated seats on private coach transfers to and from Games Venues from their hotel.

Does my Games Break (Plus) include transport to and from London?

No. Transport to/from London is not included in your Games Break or Games Break Plus

Will I be guaranteed tickets to an Olympic Games event if I buy a Games Break (Plus)?

Yes, all Thomas Cook Games Breaks (Plus) include official ticket(s) to London 2012 Games event(s)

Are there any age restrictions?

There are no age restrictions on the age of an attendee, however to purchase a Games Break (Plus) you must be aged 18 or over

Who can purchase a Games Break (Plus)?

Residents aged 18 or over of the UK and countries within the European Union and the European Economic Zones

Can I buy a Games Break (Plus) as a gift?

Yes, however you are subject to various restrictions. Please see booking conditions

Is there a limit on how many people I can make a booking for?

You can book up to 10 rooms at once for a Games Break (Plus). If you require more than 10 rooms you will need to contact us on 0844 800 2012. Corporate bookings should be a minimum of 23 Games Break Plus rooms. If you would like to make a corporate booking enquiry please contact corporate.sales@thomascooklondon2012.com for further details

Are there any child prices available?

All Games Break (Plus) are priced per person and are based on two people sharing a room. All tickets provided to Thomas Cook from the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games are set at full price with no concessions available.

Will there be any family rooms available?

Thomas Cook will have a limited number of triple or quad rooms for families. If you have infants we would ask that you bring your own travel cot as we are not able to confirm that cots will be available in every hotel.

Can I pay a deposit on a Games Break (Plus)?

Yes, in-store only. For bookings with a total value of under £300 per person, full payment is due at time of booking. For any bookings with a value of £300 or higher per person, a deposit of £300 per person can be paid, with the balance due by the 11th September 2011. If you book online or call directly you will be required to pay the full balance at time of purchase regardless of the per person value.

Are Thomas Cook Worldwide Travel Vouchers redeemable on Thomas Cook Games Break (Plus)?

Yes, in-store only. No other form of voucher is redeemable against this product

How can I pay for my Thomas Cook London 2012 Games Break (Plus)?

In recognition of Visa’s support of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, Thomas Cook proudly accepts only Visa (credit, debit and prepaid), along with cash or cheque if you purchase at one of our Thomas Cook Stores.

When should I expect to receive tickets included in my Games Break (Plus)?

Tickets will be delivered to your chosen store or address approximately 7-10 days before the start of your Games Break. If you have chosen to collect in store, you will be contacted by your agent to arrange collection. If you have chosen the courier delivery method you will be contacted directly by the courier company to inform you when tickets will be delivered. Games Break Plus tickets will be with your host who will greet you upon arrival at your hotel.

Can I change the tickets included in my Games Break (Plus)?

You will not be able to change the specific event tickets that are included in your program. We have a huge choice of specially created London 2012 Games Breaks (Plus) to suit all budgets and interests, we advise that you book early to get the Games Break (Plus) that you want.

How do I make a request for any special assistance I may require for my Games Break (Plus)?

If you have a special request or require special assistance for anything that is not automatically part of a Games Break (Plus), please advise us at time of booking in store or call us on 0844 800 2012

What happens if I want to cancel my booking?

If you have paid a deposit, you will lose the full deposit amount and not receive a refund of any money paid to Thomas Cook. If you cancel a booking after paying in full, you will be subject to 100% cancellation charges and will not receive a refund of any money paid to Thomas Cook

Can I make changes to my booking?

You will not be able to make any major changes to your Games Break or Games Break Plus once a booking has been made. Major changes include any changes to the dates of travel, events that form part of the Games Break (Plus) or the accommodation. If you need to make changes to your Games Break (Plus) program this will need to be cancelled and re-booked at a loss of deposit or full cancellation charges. You will however be able to make minor changes, contact details, delivery method, names of additional persons attending. Minor changes will need to be made before 1st April 2012. You can do this online by logging into your my account booking details, in store or by calling us on 0844 800 2012. Fees may apply for minor changes.

If I am unable to attend can I give my tickets to someone else?

No you cannot re-sell any of the arrangements you purchase in a Games Break or Games Break Plus.

Paying with VISA

How will I be able to pay for my Games Break (Plus) if I don’t have a Visa product?

You will be able to pay using cash or cheque if purchasing a Games Break from a Thomas Cook store. However, for a quicker and easier means of payment, see below on how to apply for a Visa product.

Will there be an extra fee when paying with Visa?

There will no fee when paying with your Visa debit card. Thomas Cook will charge a 2.5% transaction fee, up to a value of £50, when paying by Visa credit card.

How will I be able to make purchases at the Olympic and Paralympic venues during the Games?

The quicker and easier means of payment will be with Visa. Spectators who do not have a Visa product can also pay with cash.

How long have Visa been a sponsor of the Olympic and Paralympic Games?

Visa has been a proud sponsor of the Olympic Games since 1986 and the Paralympic Games since 2002. Sponsorship works because it helps LOCOG raise the funds required to stage the Games. The Games simply couldn’t happen without commercial partners funding their staging.

How can I apply for a Visa (credit, debit or prepaid) card if I don’t already have one?

There are a number of simple and easy ways for customers who do not currently have a Visa product can obtain one. The easiest way to obtain a Visa product is to contact your bank which will be able to help you to select and apply for a Visa product that most suits your needs. Alternatively, anyone can obtain a Visa prepaid card from a Visa prepaid card issuer which can be used immediately. Please visit the Visa website at www.visaeurope.com or www.visa.com/globalgateway.

I’ve lost my Visa Card / Had my Visa card stolen – What do I do now?

Please call your issuing bank for help or call Global Cardholder Assistance Services (GCAS) UK free phone number (0800-89-1725), 24 hours a day. GCAS will then connect you with your card issuer/bank to cancel your card and arrange for a replacement if possible.

Will the Olympic Games schedule change?

Please note, LOCOG reserve the right to change Session times and substitute events within a Session without notice. Thomas Cook will not be able to advise our customers on these changes, we would urge customers to check with LOCOG before attending events.
